Sales Engineer / Germany

Sales Engineer Western Europe

As a member of the M-Files Western Europe sales organization, the Sales Engineer is primarily responsible for providing pre-sales support to the Western Europe sales team with a primary focus on the DACH market; along with some post-sales handover to the M-Files consulting team. 

This position reports to the Director of Sales Engineering for Western Europe and requires a self-starter with a unique blend of proven consultative sales skills, sales aware presentation and writing along with strong technical capability. You will need to become an expert in the M-Files software and have an outgoing personality that enables you to relate to customers, understand their needs and determine how M-Files will benefit their business. A proven ability to execute well under pressure in front of customers and prospects will be considered a distinct advantage.

Main Responsibilities

  • Drive the technical side of sales engagements; including presentations, product demonstrations and proposals
  • Assist with evaluating prospects technical and business needs and use industry experience to shape prospects' thinking and requirements in favour of a positive outcome
  • Act as a go to technical resource to help the sales team address product related questions for RFI/RFP responses, proposals and technical requirements analysis as necessary
  • Lead proof of concepts (POCs), scoping exercises and SOW reviews with potential customers
  • Assist with value proposition development for target market sectors that give us an edge against our competitors.
  • Develop and build tailored vaults and demo stories as required by the sales team with a focus on the DACH market.
  • Provide feedback to M-Files management to assist with prioritisation of future development
  • Work with M-Files channel partners on opportunities and go-to-market initiatives.

Key Competencies

  • A BS degree in computer science, engineering or other technical field.
  • 3-5 years experience as a sales engineer or consultant with some exposure to pre-sales.
  • Great listening and communication skills - both verbal and written German & English
  • Flexibility in approach with different levels of management
  • Compelling demonstration and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of document management and enterprise content management technologies
  • Knowledge of the software vendor ecosystem within professional services would be an advantage
  • Experience of delivering ECM projects and Agile best practises
  • Experience of working for a SaaS business
  • Highly motivated self-starter who works independently and requires minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of architectural design, application servers, networks, operating systems, databases, search/index servers
  • Knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including; IIS, MS SQL Server, Azure PaaS and Office 365 services
  • Remote working is standard currently but an ability to travel up to 50% of the time will be required longer term
  • Fluent German speaking mandatory
